So I went to the Basha Kill Wildlife Preserve the other day looking for some landscape photography opportunities and I was armed with the new Sony A9 and FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens. The lighting was that killer morning glow that I absolutely love and it really added that special look to these images I thought.
Being Landscape Photography and all, I was looking for mostly sharp shots from the foreground to background, so I stopped the A9 down to f/8 – f/11 for most of these frames. The camera and lens combination proved to be awesome in my opinion, although the new Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Lens would have been my lens of choice if I could only have one. That being said, the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens did give me the 70mm f/2.8 option which I did exploit on a few frames…
One thing I notice in particular about these frames is the 3D Pop. The combination of killer optics, dreamy lighting, and the awesome full frame Sony A9 sensor really made for some magical looking captures in my opinion. The 3D look to some of these frames is just awesome!
So here are the photos I got at the Basha Kill and I hope you enjoy… All these images are also on my Flickr Feed Here >>

Closing Remarks
Guys, I am absolutely loving the New Sony A9 and FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens! These results are stellar in my opinion and I really can’t expect better than this. The images are jumping off the screen, the dynamic range captured by the new A9 sensor is more than enough, the sharpness, color, and clarity are all phenomenal.
I would love to have more resolution to work with, but 24mp really is enough for almost anything in the real world. The 42mp Sony A7r II sensor offers a lot more detail, but the images would look pretty much the same when viewing here or if printed 16×20 for example. The extra resolution would allow for more detailed editing and the lack of low pass filter on the A7r II sensor would also offer a tad bit more sharpness if pixel peeping. But again, 24mp is enough for almost any user in my opinion, and it’s much more forgiving when processing the raw files as well.
At the end of the day, the detail and over image quality of the Sony A9 speaks for itself I would say. What do you say?
