New Sony A7s II Announced! Photojournalist Best Camera Option…

Sony just announced the Sony A7s II full frame mirrorless E-mount digital camera. The best low light camera option just got even better! I’m a little surprised by this considering the specs, but an updated body is really a great thing and brings the low light shooting to an even higher level! According to BHPhoto (Click Here), the new Sony A7s II will be available and shipping out on September 17th @ 12am.

I only went over things quickly this morning so far, but the camera clearly has some new goods worth checking out, such as internal UHD 4k, the killer S-log3 gamma, fast intelligent AF down to -4EV, and a much better camera body with the 5-axis steadyShot technology inside.

This camera is the best photojournalists option to date by far in my opinion! I’m talking about in the field looking for a point and shoot camera that is the best possible quality in the smallest form factor possible. I know the folks from Vice News use the original A7s a lot, so this new camera will certainly be added to their gear I’m sure.

    Thanks for the update. I was one of the ones waiting for the A6100/7000 announcement. Do you know if they’ll be announcing any more APS-C specific lenses or are we going to have to strap those humungous (but fantastic) FE lenses onto the front of our handy-sized APS-C bodies? Something wider than 24mm maybe to give Sigma a run for their money or longer than 60mm – which is the longest APS-C prime at the moment.

    1. Hello,
      I heard Sony is announcing 7 more lenses, but it’s most likely for the full frame I would gather. I do believe more lenses will come for the APS-C, because folks are not going to always want the weight and larger lenses. This is why I purchased the Nex-6 back in the day, and still us it for family fun and what not. The A7r is more the Pro camera when i want to get killer frames better than Nex-6 and so fourth.. The demand is there is what I’m saying and Sony does recognize this. The issues is their production capabilities are limited and they are focused on making money. Money is in the full frame higher end units currently, because of the masses witching from Canon and Nikon specifically. Sony needs to have a good FE lens line to support those folks and that is clearly the priority. The FE lens line is really starting to fill out now though, and Sony should start putting 25% attention back towards APS-C lenses I would think and hope. Time will tell though 😉

      1. Yeah, I’m going to just get the Assassin and work on being a better film maker. In a couple of years when the a7s iii can let you see light that has been trapped in black holes, maybe I’ll upgrade.
