Website News, New Gear, Reviews, Latest Sony Deals, and More…

quadcopter-phatom

Hi everybody and thank you very much for checking in to SonyAlphaLab.com on such a lovely Saturday πŸ˜‰ I’m home with Layla today and we are going to ride some bikes and fly my new Quadcopter! Oh yeah, I finally broke down and purchased the DJI Phantom FC40 Quadcopter with FPV Camera and Transmitter, after doing tons of re-search for a few weeks. It was a fathers day gift and I really can’t wait to get some killer video footage that can only be done with a tool like this. I truly believe these things are going to require licenses and FAA registering in the very near future, because it’s to easy to spy on people and/ or hit a helicopter or low flying plane. I hate to say it, but it’s only a matter of time before some idiot takes down a real aircraft by accident with one of these drone type copters.

In any event, I ordered it and got my hands on it a few days ago. I will have a detailed first report coming soon on the phantom, so stay tuned for that if you’re interested!

New Sony Gear On the Way?

Now, for Sony gear we have the new Alpha A77 II DSLR that should be a blast to test out and review! Coming with the camera will be the new A-Mount Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G lens and possible the Tamron 70-200mm lens, for comparison purposes πŸ˜‰

My Reviews Coming Soon…

Coming down the pipe I have highly detailed reviews of the Sony E-Mount 18-105mm f/4 OSS Powerzoom Lens, the Full Frame E-Mount 70-200mm f/4 OSS G lens, and the Vertical Battery Grip (VG-C!EM) for the A7 series cameras πŸ˜‰ I have all the photos and video footage done, I just need to wrap them up and publish the articles/ videos. Over the next week I will certainly get all those done while the new gear makes it way to the Lab. I also will be playing with the Phantom Quadcopter and thankfully the batteries only last about 10 minutes, so it can’t take up to much of my time! My Dirtbike is also out of gas, so I won’t be riding that either till these pending reviews are done! I will break out the dirtbike for the Sony A77 II high speed testing though, so that should be pretty awesome I’m hoping…

Closing remarks

Well guys, that is about it for today, but I have been much more active on the forums lately, so please consider Joining (Click Here) and/or checking them out for the absolute latest news, deals, and photos undated on the daily! It’s much easier to post a quick link or pic on the forum than it is on the main site here. I want to try and keep this site with solid articles every time other than these quick updates every two weeks or so.

Thanks again for checking in and as always, please feel free to ask questions and/ or comment anytime!

Jay

Looking forward to A77 II and E-mount lenses review.
How do you squeeze in time for wrist straps πŸ™‚

I was taking a break from the computer work to do the bracelets πŸ˜‰ The work does get tedious at times when it comes to putting all the production together. It’s also very difficult to work on the production when Layla is around, so again the paracord seamed like a nice exercise and more fun than production work! I feel bad working on it when she wants to play and the older Layla gets, the more demanding and time consuming the activities are. Oh Yeah, did I mention my Wife is 8 months pregnant also?? It can be a little stressful at times these days…

Thanks again for the comments and sharing all your awesome photography on the forum. It’s so nice to see the forum coming back to life slowly but surely!

I’m working on the reviews now though bud!
