Exciting times for Sony as they ramp up production on the a77 and Nex-7 overseas in a new factory that didn’t get flooded. This is great news and means that I should have the Nex-7 in my hands sometime in the very near future!!
Good news Nikon fans, apparently Sony’s rumored 36MP sensor that Nikon purchased a while back has made it’s appearance in the new Nikon D800. That is really cool and will get to see first hand what the sensor is capable of doing in Nikon’s hands. The D800 is also a SLT like the a77 😉 I wonder how Nikon’s AF will compare to Sony’s with the SLT technology?? More info over at over at Nikonrumors.com
Since we are just beginning to ramp up production in these new lines, we have just begun restart of production at this early stage; however this is positive news that Sony is getting back on track and recovering from flood impact. Although there are no details to share on production schedule today, we expect within the next 2 weeks to have a clearer idea for you.
Again, thank you very much for your continued patience.

An excellent review was just posted on the New Sony E 24mm f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens over at SLRGear.com. Thanks to SonyAlphaRumors.com for the link 😉 From what I can tell it looks pretty sharp wide open, and the chromatic aberration is noticeable but not that bad. The corners are a bit soft wide open, but by f/2.8 they sharpen up nicely. Peak sharpness is achieved at f/4 and falls off slightly beyond that.
