Just took a few snapshots of the sun to see if my ND filter is powerful enough... Looks like it is, and you can even see the sun spots on the sucker!!

I'm using the Sony A9 and my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS Lens w/ Sign-ray variable ND Filter @ Max dark. I had the camera Aperture @ f/16, and the shutter speed 1/32,000sec, ISO 50....

Very good idea and cool results. I tried something completely low-tech here by covering a lens with aluminum foil with a pinhole in the center. Results are by no means sharp but you can still see the shape of the moon partially covering the solar disk. The next big eclipse here is in April 2024 and then my home town will be in the path of totality. Guess where I'll be that day?

A very old and very slow Quantaray earning it's keep. EVF's have the advantage in solar photography, the digital viewfinder can only go so bright, much safer on the eyes.

We never got that here but seen so much of it on the news.

Shot the full eclipse with a Sony RX10 III (@ 600mm, f/5.6, 1/1000 sec., ISO 100) mounted on a Celestron Evolution mount using the Time-Lapse App set to take a shot every 30 sec.; 327 subs captured. I shot Totality handheld with a Sony A7R II and Sony 24-240mm zoom using various exposures from 1/8 sec. through 1/200 sec.

Sorry for posting so late to the thread. These shots were from the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Colorado so the eclipse was not full here. Mostly used the opportunity to make use of the newly released Sony FE 100-400mm GM. It was mounted on my A7R2. Began with a tripod but then switched to hand-held. I didn't have a filter so shot with the aperture clamped down to f/40 and ISO 100. Especially enjoyed the second one which I called the Cheshire Cat Smile.
