Batis 85 Sharpness?

I thought the sharpness of the Batis 85 was considered to be excellent but I saw a comment somewhere (I'm sorry I can't remember where now) about a new Sony lens being "sharper than the Batis 85". Is the Batis not quite as sharp as some others of it's ilk? I've been planning to get one.

I think you may have heard about the new Sony FE 85mm/1.8. It apparently is very good (equivalent to Batis) optically but much less expensive. The Batis is stabilized, the Sony is not.

The Batis FE 85mm f/1.8 Lens is very sharp for sure! I have not used it yet personally, but the ultra high res photos I have seen are awesome. It has a really nice rendering as well, although not quite as good as the Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM Lens. The inclusion of Optical Steady Shot on the Batis is a great feature as well. The New Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 lens can't possible be as good as the Batis based on my experience, but I bet it will be awesome for the given price point of $598.

Thanks yes I saw both of those and am now somewhat disappointed I spent unnecessarily on the Batis. Larger and slightly heavier too.

You do get the weather sealing, as well, with the Batis.
