What's your oldest Minolta lens?

This past summer, I picked up a 30+ year old Minolta 28-135mm from a local pawn shop. It wasn't in the greatest condition - not minty fresh by any means - but when given the right condition, it still produces wonderful images! Another reason why I jumped on this particular lens, is that it's a double-crossed version as well, meaning it was one of the first Minolta Maxxum lenses out there!

Very nice shots. Have to like the images produced by the vintage glass. Really fond of the colors. Wish I'd jumped on this bandwagon when the nex cameras and adapters first came into use. Think there were many bargains on nice old glass to be had a few years ago. Still some out there, but not so cheap anymore, unless you get lucky.

According to the Minolta lens chart my oldest Minolta lens would have to be the Rokkor 50mm/1.7 MC, dating back to 1973. It's in great shape but doesn't get used very often; I favor the /1.4 MD variant when I get a chance.

I agree with Willie that to get a good price nowadays, you need to be patient and opportunistic. Still much better pricing though than modern optics and sometimes it's hard to tell the results apart... if you don't mind manual photography.

I think my currently oldest should be the MC Rokkor-PF 58 mm f/1.4. According to the eazypix lens DB, it was manufactured between 1969 and probably 1973, when the 50 mm MC Rokkor-PG was introduced.

Most of my Minolta lenses are of the 1978-9 vintage, including My MD 28/1.8, MD 50/1.7 and Rokkor-X/1.4, and MD Tele-RokkorX135/2.8. Not sure about my SR-mount Vivitars, but I think they are of about the same vintage. As much as I like the handiness of the kit lens on my a6000, especially on travel, I prefer the old glass I have for much the same reasons as you guys do.

I own only one Minolta lens, so it's supposed to be my oldest It's a zoom MD 35 -70 3.5 macro I bought recently on eBay for 80 Euro in order to use it on my A7R. According to the list on eazypix it was manufactured in 1983.

I'm really happy with it, it's very sharp and versatile with the built-in macro modus. Here is a shot I took with it on a hike last week.

I MUST HAVE BOUGHT THE LENS IN 1978, NOT 1973 !
THE MD 85 MM f 1.7 DID NOT GET RELEASED TIL 1978.
